APPLICATION FOR AVID READER BADGE (2023-24)

Guidelines - The Avid Reader badge is an initiative to acknowledge the Love To Read and Read To Excel in one’s knowledge and perception of the world. It recognizes the students who show passion for reading books from the School Library.

STUDENTS WHO APPLY FOR THE AVID READER’S BADGE: The selection of students is undertaken objectively.

Kindly read the following details and the Avid Reader form attached herewith to participate in the same.

Objectives –

• To read voraciously in order to excel in reading skills and language skills
• To improve their thought process and eventually become good thinkers.
• To enhance insight into current and world affairs.
• To be able to put forth their views and ideas on various platforms.

Who Can Apply?

• All students from Std 1^STto 8^TH   are eligible to apply for the Avid Reader Badge.
• Application form should be correctly filled and to the best of his/her discretion. In case of younger students, parents must fill the application form.
• The Avid Reader Badge is valid for three years, after which one must re-applyto be eligible for the same. (Badge Validity - April 2024 to March 2027)
• Application form is attached with the Website and Top schoolnotice.

Criteria for selection –

1. Knowledge of authors, genre, style of writing.
2. Genre of Books read (Fiction, Non-Fiction…)
3. Use of library resources like Magazines, Periodicals, Encyclopaedias etc.….
4. Language proficiency of the students
5. Participation in library activities
6. Scrutinized selection procedure

Benefits - Avid Reader Badge holders can avail

v  Availing two library books at a time.

v  Books can be exchanged  during lunchbreak

v  Magazines, Periodicals and Comics etc...

v  Attend seminars / workshops /visits to Libraries etc.

4. Conduct as observed by the teachers.
5. After reading activity [as observed by the language teachers].
6. Selection by a panel of language teachers.
